THE IMPORTANCE OF HOMEWORK
These days the cost of living is rapidly on the rise and longer working hours have become a reality. Gone are the days where dad goes to work to provide for the family and mom stays at home to raise and nurture the children.

Although it may seem like there aren’t enough hours in the day, it is crucial, that as parents, we are able to make the time for our children’s education and help them with their homework when they need it.

Let’s be honest, with all the technology and gadgets available these days, homework doesn’t always rate highly on your child’s priority list. There are so many distractions and more exciting ways your child wants to spend their spare time so we can’t really expect them to completely focus on the task at hand without our support and guidance.

Helping your children with their homework is a very important role for parents and can teach them necessary life skills that will benefit them greatly in the future. These skills include time management, problem solving and the importance of setting priorities.

You may encounter times when you don’t quite understand your child’s homework and the subjects can seem completely different from when you were at school. This is where the internet comes in handy. You don’t need to know all the answers; you can simply help your children learn how to find them.

Homework isn’t just a positive tool for our children, it is a great way for parents to keep track and be informed of what their children are being taught in the classroom.

Showing an interest in your child’s homework and education is a great motivator and encourages them to succeed.

If you can reiterate the importance of homework to your children and they can see that you have an interest in it, they are more likely to have an interest too!
